Our Parks Deserve Better: The Cancellation of Local Tip Truck Services
By Cllr Danny Carter · 7 August 2026

A Setback for Our Community
It has recently come to light that the council's scheduled tip truck services—designed to help residents dispose of unwanted household waste—have been cancelled following reports of unauthorised encampments in our local parks [1].
For many residents in Pype Hayes and Erdington, these services are a vital tool in keeping our streets clean and preventing fly-tipping. Seeing these services pulled away is a frustrating development for those of us who take pride in our local environment.
What This Means for Residents
This cancellation means that the convenient, park-based disposal points you may have relied on are no longer available. I understand the frustration this causes, especially when we are already working hard to tackle issues like fly-tipping on roads such as Eachelhurst Road.
My office is currently seeking clarification from the council on when these services might be reinstated and what alternative arrangements are being put in place to ensure residents are not left with excess waste.
Staying Vigilant
We must ensure that our public spaces remain accessible and clean for all. If you are struggling with waste disposal or have concerns about the impact of these cancellations on your street, please get in touch with my office. I will continue to push for better waste management solutions that serve our ward effectively.
