Object to HMO Planning Application at 128 Tyburn Road (Ref: 2026/01309/PA)
**I am formally objecting to this proposal on the following grounds, which are of urgent concern to our neighbourhood:** * **Antisocial Behaviour:** High-density HMOs along this corridor have repeatedly become a magnet for antisocial behaviour, creating an environment of fear for neighbouring residents. * **Criminal Activity:** Residents have consistently reported drug dealing and other criminal activities linked to similar intensive housing sites in the immediate vicinity. * **Strain on Police Resources:** These properties create persistent demand on our already stretched local police services, diverting resources away from the wider community. **The Proposal:** Planning application 2026/01309/PA seeks the conversion of 128 Tyburn Road into a 7-bedroom HMO plus two additional bedsits. As your Ward Councillor, I believe this proposal is an unacceptable intensification of the site that will worsen these existing issues. **Additional Concerns:** - **Parking & Traffic:** Tyburn Road is a major, congested transport corridor. This development will generate far more parking demand than the existing single-family dwelling can accommodate, adding further pressure to our already congested streets. - **Loss of Family Housing:** We are losing a vital family home to high-density shared accommodation, further undermining community stability. - **Community Balance:** My office has been involved in extensive casework regarding the cumulative impact of such developments. We simply cannot support further high-occupancy dwellings on this corridor. I have submitted my formal objection to the City Council. Stop the conversion of The Lad in the Lane to Exempt Accommodation
The proposed conversion of The Lad in the Lane (2026/01279/PA) into supported exempt accommodation is an unacceptable threat to our neighbourhood. We have seen too many of these developments undermine local safety, increase anti-social behaviour, and erode the community spirit that defines Pype Hayes and Erdington. Our historic landmarks should be preserved for residents, not exploited for housing schemes that fail to support our local infrastructure or security. We urge everyone to examine the full planning documents available on the Birmingham City Council portal. If you noticed the site notice, please check the date you saw it and confirm whether you have already submitted a formal objection to the planning department. PETITION: Oppose Proposed Change of Use at 5 Windfall Court (Ref: 2026/02518/PA)
We, the undersigned residents of Pype Hayes and the wider Erdington community, call upon Birmingham City Council's Local Planning Authority to reject Application Number 2026/02518/PA. This application seeks a change of use from Class C3 (dwelling house) to Class C2 (residential institution) to provide supported accommodation for young people aged 16–17. **Our objections are based on the following urgent grounds:** 1. **Allegations of Prior Unauthorised Use:** Residents living adjacent to 5 Windfall Court have made consistent, detailed allegations that the property has been operated as an illegal HMO for two years prior to this current application. The community is deeply concerned that this change of use application is an attempt to regularise an established pattern of unauthorised and unmanaged use. 2. **Inappropriate Location:** The property is situated less than half a mile from Paget Primary School. We believe this location is wholly inappropriate for this form of intensive supported accommodation, given its proximity to an establishment attended by young children. 3. **Community Impact & Cohesion:** Residents are deeply concerned that the concentration of this use in an established, family-oriented residential street risks undermining the cohesion and stability of a community where families have lived for generations. 4. **Pressure on Public Services:** Local policing and support resources are already under extreme strain. Residents believe that intensifying the use of this site will place further unsustainable demand on those limited services and infrastructure. 5. **Risk of Antisocial Behaviour:** Neighbours have raised legitimate, evidence-based concerns regarding the potential for increased antisocial behaviour. These are not generalisations; they are based on lived experience of the property’s usage over the past two years. **Our Call to Action:** We call on Birmingham City Council to reject Application 2026/02518/PA in full. We demand that the Planning Authority investigates the allegations of prior illegal operation and gives full, proper weight to the depth and volume of local opposition. **WARD MEETING NOTICE:** This petition and the situation at 5 Windfall Court will be on the agenda for our upcoming Ward Meeting on **Tuesday 29th September 2026** at the **HollyFields Sports and Conference Centre**.
