Protecting Our Neighbourhood: Objecting to the HMO Application at 5 Windfall Court

Why This Matters

Residents of Pype Hayes and the wider Erdington community are currently facing a new planning application (Ref: 2026/02518/PA) for the conversion of 5 Windfall Court into a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

We held a Ward Meeting on Tuesday 28th July 2028 at the HollyFields Sports and Conference Centre in Pype Hayes which booked and arranged and paid for by Birmingham City Council and published on the Birmingham City Council Website on the Pype Hayes Ward Page - despite this no officer turned up to even take the minutes of the meeting and when as your councillor I made an official enquiry into why no council officers attended such an important ward meeting I was told the meeting was processed as a ward surgery by an agency staff member - i have demanded further clarification as the same staff member also booked a ward surgery for Tuesday 21st July 2026 which was also well attended so I do not undertand the confusion.

However As your elected councillor, I understand the concerns many of you have regarding the density of HMOs in our area and the potential impact on local infrastructure, parking, and community cohesion. Planning decisions are a critical part of how we shape the future of our ward, and it is vital that the Local Planning Authority hears from those who live here.

What This Means for Residents

If you feel this development is unsuitable for our neighbourhood, the most effective way to influence the outcome is to submit a formal objection to the Birmingham City Council planning department. and sign the petition published on this civic hub.

  • Review the plans: You can view the full details of application 2026/02518/PA on the Birmingham City Council planning portal.
  • Submit your comments: Ensure your feedback is submitted before the deadline. Focus your comments on "material planning considerations," such as parking pressures, noise, or the character of the local area.
  • Stay informed: We are tracking this application closely. By participating in the formal consultation process, you ensure that your views are part of the official record considered by the planning committee.

Your voice is essential in ensuring that development in Pype Hayes remains sustainable and community-focused.
