Your Ward in Numbers: Pype Hayes, October 2026
By Cllr Danny Carter · 19 October 2026
Understanding how our community is changing helps us make better decisions about local services and safety. ## The key numbers * 0.3% of households in Pype Hayes are deprived in four dimensions (Census 2021), which is lower than the Erdington and Birmingham average of 0.4%. * 39.6% of Pype Hayes households are not deprived in any dimension (Census 2021), slightly below the Birmingham city-wide figure of 40.4%. * 127 violent crimes were recorded in Erdington during August 2026 (data.police.uk), forming the largest portion of the 299 total recorded crimes and antisocial behaviour incidents that month. * 10 incidents of antisocial behaviour (acting in a way that causes alarm or distress to others) were reported in Erdington in August 2026 (data.police.uk). ## What this means for you The data shows that while our household stability remains comparable to the wider city, community safety remains a primary focus for the council. By tracking these figures monthly, we can identify which areas of concern, such as shoplifting or vehicle crime, require closer attention from local partners and emergency services. We use this information to plan our community centres and safety initiatives effectively. We want to ensure that Pype Hayes remains a place where everyone feels secure and supported in their daily lives. Your feedback on local issues is vital to help us keep our records accurate and our streets safer. ## How to have your say If you have concerns about antisocial behaviour or need to report local issues, please visit https://dannycarter.org.uk/report or contact the office of Councillor Danny Carter directly. ## Where the figures come from * ONS Census 2021 TS011 via Nomis, https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/datasets/c2021ts011 * data.police.uk (West Midlands Police), https://www.police.uk/pu/your-area/west-midlands-police/be001/
