We will not accept it: Standing against the HMO flood on Tyburn Road

The battle to protect the character and safety of Pype Hayes and Erdington continues. I am formally objecting to the planning application (2026/01309/PA) to convert 128 Tyburn Road into a 7-bedroom HMO with two additional bedsits, and I am calling on every resident to stand with me.

For the past ten years, my pledge has been clear: I will oppose all Supported Exempt Accommodations (SEA) and inappropriate HMOs in Pype Hayes and the wider Erdington Constituency. These developments have become a scourge on our communities. We have watched the tragic collapse of the community in Stockland Green, which now suffers from the highest density of HMOs and SEAs in the city. The consequences are stark: crime rates have skyrocketed, and long-standing residents—people who have called Erdington home for decades—are being forced out of their own neighbourhoods because they no longer feel safe or at home.

Now, they want to flood Pype Hayes ward with more.

Tyburn Road is already a major transport corridor struggling under intense pressure. To add high-density, transient occupancy to this area is to invite further parking congestion, refuse management issues, antisocial behaviour, and criminal activity. Our local police are already stretched to the limit; they do not have the resources to cope with the existing crime rates, let alone the extra demand this development would create.

I have submitted my formal objection to the City Council, but this fight requires a united voice. We will not accept this. My promise remains: I will oppose every single planning application for high-density HMOs and SEAs put forward for our area.

Take Action Now Please add your name to our formal petition to show the planning committee that Pype Hayes and Erdington residents will not stand by while our community is eroded: Sign the Petition: Object to HMO Planning Application at 128 Tyburn Road

We must protect our family housing and ensure Erdington remains a place where residents can live in peace and security.
